Couple Dancing

The Parkinson's Dance is Returning!

Remember in January we ran an event called the Parkinson's/Wheelchair Dance? Well, because it was so successful, we have decided to run it again, but with one exception! This time we have decided to separate the two, so in this event we will be able to specifically target the dance to those with Parkinson's Disease in order for them to get the most out of it. Starting up again on Thursday the 3rd of November. Six weekly sessions with qualified instructors. Wheelchair users will be having their own event, yet to be announced.

Parkinson’s Dance is a fun and creative movement-based class, designed specifically to address the symptoms of Parkinson’s. The Classes are led by a team of two specially trained teachers, Carrie, and Darcy, using the Parkinson’s Dance Science model (a marriage of physio- therapy and creative dance co-founded by Neuro- Physiotherapist Dr Sophia Hulbert and Dance Artist Aimee Hobbs with support from Pavilion Dance Southwest). Classes will take place on Thursdays at Stour Connect at 11am- 12:30pm and you can expect:

  • A social, fun and spirited community to connect to, including a post-class cuppa and biscuit social.

  • A friendly duo of dance teachers who are specialised in delivering this model and can support you (both seated and standing options available throughout).

  • A safe environment that is staffed, clean and adaptable to your needs.

  • Your companion, friend, carer can attend for free
