Louise Westbrook

Memory Group Leader

I would like to introduce myself. My name Is Louise Westbrook, I am a mental health nurse and have specialised in dementia care. I have previously worked in the care home environment both as a carer and activities coordinator. Due to my passion in working with people who are living with dementia, I then trained and qualified as a registered nurse. Following my training I joined the NHS and worked as a Community Psychiatric Nurse and then as a Dementia Specialist Nurse with a care home liaison service. In 2019 I decided to leave the NHS and I am now a self-employed nurse working in the community.

With the support of The Community Connections, the Memory Group was set up in August 2019. This is for people suffering from a memory impairment or have a diagnosis of a dementia. Support and advice is also available for their family and carers. We offer various activities based on people’s personal interests and favourite pastimes. We also look at sensory work, reminiscence therapy, and offer the opportunity to engage in life history work.
